common questions

I let my clients determine what we do in session.

I don’t steer the conversation in a direction the client doesn’t want to go.

And I never ask a client to do anything they don’t want to do.

50 minutes at a minimum.

No, we do not take insurance.

Therapy is a personal, confidential treatment.  When insurance companies get involved they require intimate details about what goes on in our sessions that I’m not comfortable revealing.

I let my clients determine how often and how long we meet.  I’m always happy to offer advice but this is your therapy, not mine.

With some rare exceptions that we can discuss therapy is completely confidential.

I will not even confirm or deny you are a client without your written permission.

Fill out the form on my contact page, or call me any time: (914) 907-1497.

Feel free to leave a message.

Nobody can access my voice mailbox but me.

I require 24-hour notice of cancellation to avoid billing you for the session.

Obviously, there is some leeway in the event of emergencies.

We begin when you call me or fill out my contact form.

Once we get on the phone, I do a short interview to determine whether I’m the right therapist for you. If not, I will refer you to a therapist who is.

If I believe we are a good fit, I will invite you to ask any questions you may have so you feel comfortable with us working together.

Finally, we may set an appointment, at which time I will get your email address so that I can send you an invitation to my web portal where you can sign an Office Policy and Privacy Policy document.

Choosing a therapist or coach is a highly personal decision.

Studies have shown that therapy is only as effective as the relationship between therapist and client.

We understand how vital it is to connect with the best fitting therapist or coach for your unique circumstances, so offer a complimentary 20 minute phone consultation with anyone who reaches out to us so we can learn more about your personal situation.

So go ahead and give us a call, or send us a message and we’ll help get you set up with someone who we think will be a
fabulous match for you.

All appointments are held through Zoom

From ages 18 to 100.

I don’t think of therapy in terms of modalities.

I have the training and life experience to help with most issues my clients present.

How I help is completely dependent on my impression of what will be the most effective method.

In other words, I have no preconceived notions of what kind of help my clients need.

I’m a Marriage and Family Therapist (or Couples Counselor), licensed by the State of California (LMFT License 98803).

I’m also certified by the State of California as a Substance Abuse Counselor

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the New York University, and received my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy With Distinction from Mercy College.

In addition I am constantly training in new modalities.  In the last year

I have been trained in Mindfulness techniques, Neuro Linguistic Programming and Brainspotting (a very effective and innovative technique for getting the most out of therapy in the most efficient and beneficial manner).
