Alcohol and your marriage

When drinking is putting your marriage at risk.

Many of the people I work with call after their spouse has said something has to change. I help you stop drinking, and I help the two of you repair what it has damaged.

Private and confidential. No cost and no obligation.

Who this is for

The person drinking, the partner, and the two of you.

  • If you're the one drinking

You may not be sure you have a problem. You do know your marriage is in trouble. We start there.

  • If you're the partner

You've asked, argued, and waited. Counseling gives you a place to say what you need and decide what comes next.

  • If you come together

Stopping is one job and rebuilding trust is another. I work with you on both.

My approach

Addiction and the marriage, treated together.

Most counselors work on the drinking or on the relationship. I've spent 16 years as an addiction counselor and 9 as a marriage and family therapist, and I work on both at once, because each one affects the other every day.

Sessions are private, direct, and focused on what you can do this week. They typically last about 50 minutes.

If you drink heavily every day

Talk to a doctor before you stop. Stopping suddenly can be dangerous, and medical support makes it safer.

Testimonials

What clients say.

I feel so much better. Amends done with my brother. It went very well. Of course he couldn't remember it, but I said what I needed to say and feel great. Thank you!

How it works

Start with a 15-minute conversation.

The first call is free. It's a chance to see whether working together makes sense before you commit to anything.

  1. Book a time

Choose a slot online that works for you. It takes about a minute.

  2. Tell me what's going on

We talk about what's happening and what you'd like to change. Ask me anything about how I work.

  3. Decide together

If it's a good fit, we schedule a first session. If it isn't, there's no obligation.
